If you've supervised before and found it meaningful—or if you've been looking for a structured way to do more of it—this may be a natural fit.
Empathian LLC is a mental health education and psychotherapy training company building a matching program connecting experienced supervisors with mental health clinicians of all disciplines seeking supervision or guidance—whether for licensure requirements, training in a specific psychotherapy modality, or general clinical practice at any career stage.
We're reaching out to experienced clinicians across disciplines—psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, LCSWs, LPCs, marriage and family therapists, and group and family supervisors—who are interested in becoming supervisors.
Mental health clinicians looking for supervisors are often trainees working toward licensure, recent graduates navigating their first independent caseloads, or later-career clinicians wanting to deepen their skills in a specific modality. All of them can benefit enormously from access to a thoughtful, experienced supervisor, yet for many, that access is inconsistent, hard to arrange, or simply unavailable.
What involvement looks like:
- Submit a current license, states of licensure, a brief summary of your supervisory and teaching experience, the type of supervision you offer, and your CV.
- You'll be listed in our database at no charge.
- You may be matched with supervisees based on your clinical background, theoretical orientation, areas of expertise, and availability.
- When a supervisee match is identified, there is a one-time matching fee of $500.
- You meet the candidate supervisee to assess fit. If it's a good match, all future arrangements are made directly between you and your supervisee.
- If it's not a match, we'll refer up to two additional candidates at no further cost, as they become available.
This is supervision in the fullest sense: safety, case conceptualization, therapeutic technique, clinical judgment, and psychopharmacology. For psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners, arrangements for collaborative practice or prescriptive oversight are also welcome. This is the kind of supervision that truly shapes a clinician.

Empathian LLC is building a matching program designed to connect mental health clinicians with experienced supervisors across disciplines. Become a Course Instructor
Dear Colleague/ Course Instructor ,
Have a course you've been teaching locally — or a topic you've been meaning to develop? Empathian LLC can help you bring it to a national audience of mental health professionals and get paid for your teaching.
Too much strong clinical content never makes it past a single course or annual training. Empathian takes faculty-developed courses and psychotherapy trainings and delivers them nationally to psychiatrists, psychiatric NPs, social workers, psychologists, and others who need substantive clinical training outside the standard CME pipeline. We're reaching out to a select group of faculty whose work could translate well to a full-day course or a 10-week weekly training.
Your job is the course. We handle everything else — CME accreditation, marketing, enrollment, platform setup, and post-course administration.
What we need from you:

6-7-hour day long course qualifies for 6 to 7 CME/CEU/CE credits)

How compensation works:
Empathian agrees to pay Instructor fifty percent (50%) of the Net Student Fees minus expenses ( Program manager fee CME fee, Canvass fee if needed, rebate fees actually received by Empathian for each Student who has registered for the course
One note on enrollment:
Courses are scheduled once we hit 15 confirmed participants. If we're not there two weeks out, we postpone — and you're never on the hook for any costs.

Experiential Supervision
The Apprenticeship Model of Psychotherapy Supervision
Most supervision happens after the fact. The session ends. The opportunity to intervene has passed. The moment that mattered is already gone.
The Apprenticeship Model was built differently.
Through live experiential supervision, clinicians develop psychotherapy skills in real clinical settings while receiving guidance when it matters most. The result is a deeper understanding of therapeutic process, stronger clinical judgment, and greater confidence in complex patient encounters.
What Sets This Model Apart?
Unlike traditional supervision that relies primarily on retrospective discussion, the Apprenticeship Model is grounded in guided practice.
The approach mirrors how surgeons, musicians, and other skilled professionals develop expertise—through observation, participation, feedback, and repetition in real-world settings.
Recognized with the 2023 Association for Academic Psychiatry Education Achievement Award, this model helps clinicians strengthen therapeutic effectiveness, clinical intuition, and therapeutic presence through direct experience.
How the Process Works
Live Supervision with Your Patient.
Sessions take place virtually in a triadic format involving the clinician, patient, and supervisor, with appropriate patient consent.
Most supervision experiences involve between 5 and 20 sessions and utilize supportive and psychodynamic approaches while integrating CBT, DBT, MBT, and TFP techniques when clinically appropriate.
Three Phases of Training
Phase 1: Observation
(First Third of Sessions)
The supervisor leads the session while you observe and participate as appropriate. This phase allows clinicians to see how case formulation, intervention selection, and therapeutic decision-making unfold in real time.
Phase 2: Guided Practice
(Second Third of Sessions)
You begin leading sessions while the supervisor observes and provides live coaching, feedback, and clinical guidance. Learning happens in the moment, while the work is taking place.
Phase 3: Independent Clinical Practice
(Final Third of Sessions)
As confidence and competence increase, clinicians assume greater responsibility for conducting sessions independently. Supervisors remain available through live observation, session review, and ongoing consultation as appropriate.
Sessions may be recorded to support continued learning and clinical reflection.

Participants develop stronger therapeutic alliances, greater confidence with challenging cases, and a more flexible approach to psychotherapy across diverse patient presentations.
